Light is an important part of our world. It affects everything from our ability to see to how our technology works. But what exactly is light, and how does it move? Why do you need light to see? How do our eyes actually work? In this course, we will explore the physical properties of light and the role it plays in animal vision.
Course description
In this, students will learn about the wonderful world of light. This applies to both the physics behind; what light is and how it behaves, but also how humans and animals perceive light. Initially, it will deal with the physics behind light, where students will explore the different wave properties of light, which include deflection and refraction of light, reflection and transmission. They will investigate the properties through various experiments. Then we will explore biology, and how humans and animals use light for their survival. Students will work with the human eye and its structure, as well as how certain animals use different types of light. In addition, we will compare the difference between humans, bees and rattlesnakes. Here, students will work with two investigation-based cases about the bee’s UV vision and the rattlesnake’s IR vision.

Your role as a teacher
We will take care of the teaching, but we expect you as the teacher to be present throughout the entire process and help the facilitators keep the class calm. In addition, it is expected that the teacher has divided the class into a maximum of 8 groups of 3-4 students, and that the necessary resources are available, which in this case is: Projector and screen for projects including a large classroom.
